Levels only help if you can see them where you already make decisions: on the price chart, through time. Here is a compact way to read call walls, put walls, zero gamma and expected-move bands on a 0DTE session — and why replay matters as much as the live tape.
Orient the chart in 10 seconds
- Find spot (or the last print) relative to the walls.
- Note zero gamma — above it vs below it often changes how “sticky” the tape feels.
- Glance at ±1σ / ±2σ: are we still inside the day’s implied range, or stretching it?
- Only then zoom into local structure (opening range, prior day levels).
Call wall and put wall behaviour
A call wall above price is where call-side gamma peaks. Price often slows, probes, or magnets toward it when dealer hedging is long gamma. A put wall below price plays the mirror role on the downside. Neither is a force field — they are places where hedging flow is concentrated, so tape character frequently changes.
- Respect → rejection: price tags the wall and rotates back into the range.
- Accept → magnet: price spends time at the wall; the wall can migrate as the chain updates.
- Break → regime: a clean break with volume often coincides with a shift in net GEX shape.
Zero gamma as a regime line
Zero gamma is the spot level where aggregated dealer gamma flips from positive to negative (or the reverse). Many intraday traders treat acceptance above/below it as a change in “mean-revert vs expand” conditions. Combine it with the walls — zero gamma between a put and call wall is a common mid-session map.
