What is GEX, and why do these levels matter?

GEX (gamma exposure) measures how much market makers must buy or sell to stay hedged as price moves. Where dealer gamma is large and positive, hedging dampens moves — price tends to get pinned, and the call/put walls act as magnets, support and resistance. Where it turns negative, hedging amplifies moves, so trends and breakdowns run faster. GammaTape turns that into a few concrete price levels for the session, giving you context for entries, targets and risk instead of guessing.

Where do the levels come from?

From live 0DTE (same-day expiry) option chains. We compute gamma exposure (GEX), call/put walls, zero gamma, max pain and convexity ourselves — nothing is taken on trust — and update them through the session.

How do I get the levels on my chart?

Two ways: the web dashboard (live, history and full session replay), and — on the Max plan — a MotiveWave extension that draws the walls and a net-GEX profile directly on your ES/NQ charts.

No — they are the same levels, from the same engine, at the same moment. The extension isn't a separate product or a different calculation: it draws the exact walls, zero gamma and net-GEX you see on the dashboard, on your own ES & NQ charts. SPX, NDX, SPY and QQQ. SPX & NDX are the indices behind ES & NQ futures (and map straight onto your futures chart); SPY & QQQ are there for cash and ETF traders. All four are computed independently from their own 0DTE chains.
